Contributing to a healthy housing continuum
The Winston Prouty Center in Brattleboro, Vermont, has embarked on an ambitious project to build housing on its 184-acre campus. In 2021, the Brattleboro Housing Study determined that 500 units of housing were needed to meet local demand. Years later, the demand is even more urgent, with a 2025 Vermont study showing the need for 7,000 new residences statewide per year. The Village will be part of the solution to the housing crisis our community and state are facing.

It takes a Village to build a Village
The goal of The Village at Winston Prouty is to create a neighborhood that reflects all the different kinds of people and needs that exist in the community. This includes multiple types of housing, from apartments to condos to duplexes. It will be affordable for many, not restricted to specific income brackets. An inclusive community is ultimately healthier for all.

Phase 1: Ready to build
Winston Prouty has developed Phase 1 of the plan to build multi-family housing on our campus. The first project will be a single apartment building at 300 Maple Street in Brattleboro. The project is permitted and shovel ready; our challenge now is funding.
